We gotta define what belief is first.

Do I believe marriage changes who you've always been?
Do I believe it's forever?
Do I believe it's love?

I think marriage is a bond society gave a name to. I believe in the legal and tax benefits. I believe it's the final token of what someone means to you. But I don't believe it's necessary to prove your love. A ring doesn't create loyalty, character, or commitment. It should simply recognize what already exists.
