my mom made sure we were dressed to impress at Easter lol. I agree that dress codes and “appropriate attire” are rooted in capitalism and mean to exclude people from participating. It can also be racist, and classist in many cases. However, if we are active participants in the society we are subject to the rules whether fair or unfair. Which why I applaud our people for creating their own spaces, and own businesses so they can play by their own rules. A lot of the dress codes have affordable options. I just like us to dress well when needed.
